Privacy Policy

Effective 16 June 2026 · Last updated 16 June 2026

The short version. MMSS collects no personal data. It is a player for a media server you run and control. The app talks only to the server you sign in to; the people who make MMSS operate no cloud service that receives your data, and there is no tracking, no advertising, and no analytics.

1. Who this covers

This policy describes the privacy practices of the MMSS iOS app (“the app”). MMSS is a client for a personal, self-hosted MMSS media server. You — or whoever administers the server you connect to — are the operator of that server and the controller of the music, metadata, and account information stored on it. This policy is about what the app itself does.

2. Data the app collects

None for us. The app does not collect, transmit, or sell personal information to the developer or to any third party. We do not operate analytics, advertising, crash-tracking SDKs, or any third-party software-development kits that gather data. The App Store privacy label for MMSS is “Data Not Collected.”

3. Your server

When you sign in, the app connects to the server address you provide and exchanges exactly what a media player needs: your library’s albums and tracks, cover art, playback and rating actions, and your sign-in session. That information lives on your server and is governed by whoever runs it. The app does not route this through us; it is a direct connection between your device and your server.

4. What is stored on your device

This data stays on your device and is not sent to the developer.

5. Camera

The app asks for camera access only for one optional feature: scanning a QR code shown on a computer’s sign-in page so you can approve that sign-in from your phone. The camera is used live to read the code; no photos are taken, saved, or transmitted, and access is never used for anything else. You can decline and the rest of the app works normally.

6. Network connections

The app makes network requests only to the server you sign in to (and, during sign-in, to that server’s own login page shown in a secure in-app browser). Sign-in uses passkeys (WebAuthn), handled by Apple’s system and your server — the app never sees or stores a password. The app does not contact the developer’s servers in normal use.

7. Sharing links

If someone shares a link to a track or album with you, opening it shows a simple web page that plays only what was shared, for as long as the person who created the link allows. Visiting a share link does not create an account or collect personal information about you. Standard, short-lived server logs (such as an IP address) may be recorded by the server delivering the audio, as with any website.

8. Children

MMSS is a general-audience music player and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

9. Data retention & deletion

Because the app collects nothing on our side, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. To remove everything the app holds on your device, sign out (which clears the token) and delete the app (which removes downloads and preferences). Anything stored on your server is managed through that server.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date. Material changes will be reflected before they take effect.
